This video is an interview with Ross Dunn, the CEO from stepforth.com.
The interview was taken by Ralph Wilson’s Web Marketing Today and it deals with the importance that blogs have these days and the way you can build links for your business web site or your online magazine by creating content that’s worth linking to in a blog.
I find these informations valuable and I hope that so do you.
A search engine at a very basic level it’s a piece of software that helps us to locate informations on the continuing growing number of web sites. These days finding good informations that are relevant to your search is the goal of all the search engines out there. All those efforts are made to make the search engine more “clever” and to be able to recognize relevant information to a topic when it finds it.

There are two ways in which you can look at the problem : you can write articles and include top keywords in it or you can first find the keywords and write for them. So if you know what are you gonna write about you can use keyword research tools to identify the best keywords for the theme that you write about. But you can also be a keyword “hunter” and look after top stories that people could be interested of. Either way you have to search for keywords and you have to understand that writing for Internet is totally different then writing for a newspaper or a book. The reason for that is because people try to find information on the Internet by searching on Google, Yahoo, Altavista, AOL, MSN and other search engines for specific terms.

Keyword research has become an industry of it’s own. Everybody talks about it, everybody wants a piece of the action. When doing keyword research for a web site you basically start with a group of words that you think that it might be important for your business and then you try to expend on it. It’s not always that easy to find let’s say 100 keywords or 1000 keywords. We often need a keyword suggestion method(or way) that could help us in finding more keywords that would be suited for the business. And this is where the keyword research tools come in. Tools like wordtracker, good keywords, seobook and the two services from Google that helps you develop a good adword campaign.

Web site optimization is one of those things that tends to turn into something that everybody talks about it just because it’s cool. I’ve recently read an article in the newsletter from wordtraker.com about an interview with Peter Kent, the author of Search Engine Optimization For Dummies, taken by Rachelle Money, in which he presents he’s fears about the industry of SEO and web site optimization becoming a mean for cons to take the money from people that don’t know too much about web site development and designing a SEO strategy based on onpage optimization and offpage optimization, keywords, links and good content based on those keywords.
I think that nothing can beat good content. No matter what you do on the on page optimizations on your web site, if you don’t have good quality content then your site will never have a top position in the SERP’s. Basically is very easy to verify that you have consistent content.
Links are important. Very important. It’s the way your articles or pages are tied together. This is why you should not have broken links on your web site. From the SEO stand of point this means on page optimization or technical optimization. It is very important that all the links in your web site to point to a valid page because this is the way search engines crawl your site : if you have a couple of pages and no link is pointing to it then the search engines won’t index those pages and the content and the keywords from that content.
I think that the keyword research is the first thing and the most important one that needs to be done before you go create your web site from the content point. It’s very important to know your keywords because you’ll know what titles and what words to use when developing the content of your web site. The keyword research process can start very easy and can become a little bit complicated in the process.
I know that this article could be regarded as another SEO one and another web design optimization on web sites and in many ways it is. But I think that there are too many web sites there are design badly and make no use of the keyword strategy and the on page optimizations and the off page optimization that Google and all the SEO design experts talk about. So I think I’ll start my own series of articles on SEO and web design and keywords and I can only hope that my time spent writing these articles is not in vain and that I’ll help you make some correct decisions about your web site.
