How does a search engine works

Author Toma    Category SEO Tips     Tags

A search engine at a very basic level it’s a piece of software that helps us to locate informations on the continuing growing number of web sites. These days finding good informations that are relevant to your search is the goal of all the search engines out there. All those efforts are made to make the search engine more “clever” and to be able to recognize relevant information to a topic when it finds it.

Search engines are something that inevitably had to happen. It’s crucial to be able to search the internet for informations you need and it’s very important to find what you want. Google invested in a company that studied languages and vocabulary. It’s something like a race out there who produces the better quality in the search results. And from my stand of point the best job so far it’s made by Google – I repeat : my opinion. Search engines evolved over time and offer different features to its users. Google offers Google Trends or Hot Searches or Adword Sandbox or Traffic Estimator or comparatives between search terms.
At a very basic level a search engine is formed by three components. First any search engine has a piece of software called a spider which crawls the internet. That is why your links should not be broken : so that the spider could get to your web pages. All the information that it getters it’s send to another part of the search engine that we could call it “the index program”. This second component analyzes the data “the spider” sent and place it a huge database based on criteria of content. This second part of a search engine must be cleaver. The cleaver “the index” is the better and more relevant information you’ll get when doing your searches. The third part of the search engine is a piece of software that we can call it “ the query sender”. This part takes your search terms, makes a query out of it and sent it to “the index” from where you receive your results. So basically you’re not searching the web but the database of that search engine. That is why a web site optimization could take a few months so that the search engines could index all the pages of your web site. The web site you run had to be found by search engines or it doesn’t exist. If you’re web site it’s not top 5 or worst not on the first page when doing the searches for the keywords you want to rank well then you need to optimize your web site. The problem could be on the technical side of the web site or on the content. Usually it’s about the content but there are cases when not even the basic optimizations are made. I have other articles that give some optimizing tips but I’ll enumerate some of them here. Optimizing your web site titles. Yes, every page should have a different title, different information in the description field of the metadata and different keywords targeted. Then all the keywords that you specified in the metadata should be found in the metadata description and the content of that page. The more times you use a keyword in that page the more stronger it gets. Keep your links intact and if possible provide a site map so that the spider could use.

Cool looking blog, can I ask you what template you are running and how much it costs? I’ve been using free ones but cannot find one that I really like.
