Sensational post, I like your writing style! I've added http://blog.tomabonciu.ro/ to my feed reader, and will be reading your posts from now on. Just a quick question - did you design your header image yourself, or have it done professionally? If you had it done by a professional, who was it?

@Todd You are right. It takes time. I usually establish the contact right when the person starts following me. If I decide to follow back then I'll check his blog or his website and send him a DM with some comment on that. I think it's very important to maintain your followers active.

I agree wholeheartedly with your thinking here. I'm still pretty new to Twitter. When I first started, I just posted links to my blog articles and other interesting stuff, as well as a few jokes or quips here and there. After reading more about Twitter, I realized I was "broadcasting" instead of having a conversation.

So yesterday, I did things differently. I still posted a blog link, and a few other interesting tidbits, but the majority of what I did on Twitter was look at three or four of my followers' profiles and engage them in conversation about them and what's interesting to them. It was fun! I went to their sites and blogs and got to know them. And the result, I felt like I made friends... and without asking they went to my website and joined my email newsletter. Three new subscribers, just like that.

I think I'm starting to get it now. But it does take time. Instead of focusing on "numbers" I'm now just making one friend at a time.

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you down the road!
