Keyword tools
Keyword research has become an industry of it’s own. Everybody talks about it, everybody wants a piece of the action. When doing keyword research for a web site you basically start with a group of words that you think that it might be important for your business and then you try to expend on it. It’s not always that easy to find let’s say 100 keywords or 1000 keywords. We often need a keyword suggestion method(or way) that could help us in finding more keywords that would be suited for the business. And this is where the keyword research tools come in. Tools like wordtracker, good keywords, seobook and the two services from Google that helps you develop a good adword campaign.
Keyword tools basically help us with suggestions. It all starts with a keyword. Something that you think it’s important for your web site. Then the tool will generate a list composed mostly by keywords related to your main keyword and the most important piece of information : how many times these words were searched on different search engines. This is the start of the keyword research process. Different keyword search tools offer different features like searching related keywords on the web sites that top rank on search engines for the keywords listed in the first suggestion list.
Let’s take wordtracker first. I think that this keyword research tool is one of the most complete and known on the market. It has a free version that you can acces here : http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ . You can also use other features by trying the trial version. This is a tool that can offer you great lists of keywords and also search the top rank sites for those keywords for related terms. I don’t have a subscription to this tool. The main reason is that I wanted to use it for some of my web sites that are in Romanian. This keyword research tool works great on English but it has bad results on Romanian for example (I don’t know if it has the same problems for other languages). The last problem that I talked about is something that is encountered and in other keyword tools like the ones offered by www.seobook.com . It’s limitation doesn’t mean that this tool is not a good one. I personally use it almost every day mostly to compare it’s results with the ones Google give me : http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ . What makes seobook.com great (in my opinion at least) is the possibility to search Google in different ways like Google trends (http://www.google.com/trends), Google Suggest, Google hottrends (http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends), Google Date Search or Google Sets (http://labs.google.com/sets). You can also check Yahoo, Amazon (for the hottest and the newest releases ) and eBay for the most searched words. Goodkeywords.com is a web site that offers some great free tools for keyword research and management. They offer keyword research software tools, application notes, primers, special reports and more. You can see if a keyword appears in the title of some web pages ,in the anchors, phrases or in normal mode (the tool for that it’s called Keyword Explorer). Google offers what I think that are the best tools for keyword research and suggestion that are free. The two tools that Google offers were mainly created for those that want to build and customize an adword campaign. The tools let you search for keywords (and it’s synonyms) and it can show you the number of searches in the last month, the average number of searches, estimated avg CPC, search volume trends and the moth the keyword was most searched. And the great thing is that it works perfect for any language and the results are very different when you select not only the language but the country also. It’s very easy to see if a certain keyword is searched for example by the Romanian people from Germany or Italy. The other tool can also show you the CPC and the avg clicks/day. This is also a good way to target your keywords to generate adsense for highly paid adwords. The addresses for those two services are : for Google Trafic Estimator – https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox – and for Google AdWords Sandbox – https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal . Any keyword research tool has it’s own limitations but to achieve good seo (search engine optimization) results I think you should take into consideration all these tools because each offers some different informations that could improve the ranking of your web site.
