SEO web design – the basics
I know that this article could be regarded as another SEO one and another web design optimization on web sites and in many ways it is. But I think that there are too many web sites there are design badly and make no use of the keyword strategy and the on page optimizations and the off page optimization that Google and all the SEO design experts talk about. So I think I’ll start my own series of articles on SEO and web design and keywords and I can only hope that my time spent writing these articles is not in vain and that I’ll help you make some correct decisions about your web site.
I think that in this first article I’ll talk about why SEO is so important and why I think that in the years that will come will be more important that the design it self. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and as the name implies it means that we use methods of optimizing your web site design and content so that it’s more present in the SERP (Search Engine Result Pages) based on some keywords. Lets say you have a web site and you go on Google and type some keywords and do some searching and your web site doesn’t appear, at least not on the first page. The reason is because those keywords are not present in your content or if there are present there is not enough density and “good placement”. Now, even if you have the right keywords in your content and with the right density this is not a guarantee that you’ll be number 1 in engine searches. That is because there are other web sites that have overall better design and more content with that specific keywords and there are longer on the market than your web site. The SEO methods can guarantee results in some cases but in some it’s just a matter of patience and perseverance in writing good content that is added maybe every day or once a week and good planing. I’m saying good planing because you’ll probably have a web site and you would like to target the top keywords, the ones that everybody searches that have 2 or 4 or 7 or 10 million results and you are no match for the big boys. Not yet at least. So you have to plan your strategy and first target weaker keywords that are not searched that frequently but produce at most 1 million results. Write good articles on your web site on those related keywords and when you become no 1 in searches for those keywords move up. This process could be slow and time consuming but it is the foundation of any good content web site. So good design and good planing in the use of keywords could take you up the hierarchy. And good content leads to people coming to your site, linking to your articles and once that started it means that you’re on the right track.
