Web marketing is the most important element when you try to sell something. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling a product or a service : it all gets down to marketing. Even if you don’t call it like this whatever you do in order to try and get more customers it’s some form of marketing. This article is about selling online and why you can’t do it without web marketing.

What are the things you can to do for your website

Once your website is published on the Internet there are a couple of things you can and you should do in order to increase your exposer and ranking on Google. There are 3 things you can do : Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Optimization and Web Marketing. The search engine optimization will help your website rank better on Google. All that you’ll do it’s for a search engine in order to be on the first page when someine will search for your keywords. Social media optimization it has some relation with the web marketing because it’s a way to help your content spread on the Internet. And finally comes web marketing which means ways of presenting your products or services. Here you can include actions like having a blog, registering with social media websites, content sharing.

Why web marketing is the most important

I will say it from the start that this doesn’t mean that you don’t have to use SEO techniques in order to get better ranking but I want to express how important web marketing is to your business. And to illustrate this I will give you an example :

Lets say you are very smart man and you live in your home, quietly and happy. All the people that pass near your house can look through the window and see you how you do your calculations and with all your books and they might say to each other : He must know something – he must be smart. But they can’t get in, the door is looked and if anyone needs something from you it will have to dare and knock on your window to try and get your attention.

You can’t get to many clients like this. You did your SEO, people are noticing you but it’s difficult to contact you and the trust is minimum. I’m pretty sure no kid will come near you. And now let us look at the same situation but with few changes :

You are a very smart person and you live in your house. Each day you open your windows and your door and every man that will walk near your house will get a Good morning from you and maybe a question like “how do you do ?” or “how can I help you” or ”how do you feel today ?”. Most definitely you’ll get a response and in some moments your help will be requested. You also use the same questions in your discussions and in different places you go : at the market, in the park, in the bar.

In the example above the human interaction will help you not only increase your exposure but people will also learn to trust you. The contact is much more easy to establish, people can use your services and there is nothing holding them back.

I’m sure that all of you understood the analogy and I think that this is the best way in which I could explain to you why marketing is the central piece. You’ll have to open yourself to your social network. You’ll have to start offering your help to others. You’ll have to start creating content that will help your friends from the social networks. Free advices will help you earn trust. And that is a very important thing : if someone trusts you then it’s more likely to buy from you.
